project Background
When its global expansion strategy revealed a need for increased capacity and diversity, this multinational social media company chose Denmark to host its data centre campus. Its challenge was finding the right partner to connect 8 data halls across 800,000 square feet – scalability and agility were must-haves, but the client also wanted day-two services once the data centre was operational.
Onnec was selected as connectivity vendor, responsible for installing all Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) cabling as well as network build activities.
The appointment was based on our proven ability to scale in new regions on large structured cabling projects and tailor delivery to the client’s unique requirements – not to mention an end-to-end connectivity service that can continue to support operations after the handover. It was on these merits that, in January 2018, the client chose to turn over the core area to Onnec.
our approach
Between January 2018 and March 2020, Onnec installed OSP and ISP fibre cabling in all eight data halls, providing internal and cross-building connectivity. Additional installation duties extended to racking, containment, network equipment and patching.
To deliver on time and in budget, Onnec took steps to overcome the scaling demands. Pre-fabricating network equipment offsite reduced labour peaks and levels, while a dedicated project management team and framework meant Onnec could adapt to changing requirements without compromising on the schedule, cost, or quality.
The result, made possible by our ability to scale in new regions and meet unique network connectivity requirements, is a completed data centre that has increased capacity and diversity for the client.
