Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day
Meet some of Onnec’s inspirational women who help keep our customers connected.
Victoria Morgan, Logistics Engineer
Q: Tell us about your background and experience. What do you enjoy about working in the Data Centre Industry?
A: Working in Data Centres is fairly new to me as my previous role was in travel and tourism – so this was a big change, however I believe this was the right decision to make. I love the fact that in my role every day is different and I am learning all the time. My colleagues are brilliant and we all support each other – there is a real team spirit between us.
Q: Tell us about a female role model or mentor that helped you grow in your career. How did they inspire you?
A: My biggest inspirations have been my mum and my sister. They have both inspired me to take every opportunity that is given to me, and have always motivated me to believe in myself. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.
Q: What advice would you give to other women considering a career in Data Centres?
A: Do it! I had the preconception that this was a male-dominated industry, however I found that this was not the case. In the 8 months I have been at Onnec I have realised that there are many women that work in this industry, and we all support each other. Have no fear and believe you can do it.

Q: Tell us about your background and experience. What do you enjoy about working in the Data Centre Industry?
A: H&S is a fairly new role for me (having previously worked as a Financial Administrator) but I love the change of working environment and enjoy doing something that presents new challenges every day. I couldn’t imagine being in an office all day now.
Q: Tell us about a female role model or mentor that helped you grow in your career. How did they inspire you?
A: I was guided by a very confident, capable individual who was very supportive and encouraged me every single day we worked together. She taught me the importance of continually learning – not just in a classroom but from interacting with other safety professionals and people on site. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That piece of advice has been invaluable.
Q: What advice would you give to other women considering a career in Data Centres?
A: Have no fear – being a women working in this industry is not as unusual as it was. Attitudes are changing and opportunities are out there.

Q: Tell us about your background and experience. What do you enjoy about working in the Data Centre Industry?
A: I have worked with Onnec Group now for 22 years, mainly based in our Head Office. The first time I ever stepped on site in a Data Centre was in September 2021, when I took on a role in EHS at our CLN site – one of our largest client sites in Dublin. I was overwhelmed by the size and scale of the build, but in time found my feet with the help of some wonderful colleagues.
Every day is different, working in the Data Centre Industry can be very rewarding offering challenges and opportunities to grow. I have really enjoyed meeting so many people along the way.
Q: Tell us about a female role model or mentor that helped you grow in your career. How did they inspire you?
A: I have been so lucky to have Lorraine Watt support me in my journey here in CLN. I am currently following in her footsteps as an EHS Supervisor. Lorraine has offered me so much support, guidance and encouragement. I don’t think I would have taken that career leap without her.
Q: What advice would you give to other women considering a career in Data Centres?
A: A career in Data Centres offers so many opportunities with so many paths to explore. Hard work and dedication, like in any career, will pave the path for long term success.
Bruna Rippozzatti, Project Planner
Q: Tell us about your background and experience. What do you enjoy about working in the Data Centre Industry?
A: I have been working on a male predominant industry for over 10 years. Firstly, on a manufacturing environment and secondly on Data Centre. At the beginning it can be quite intimidating and challenging. However, as you gain experience and knowledge you become more confident. What I like most about it, is the opportunity to grow and develop professionally as well as meet different people along the way. I also receive support from the company and the possibility to progress your career further.
Q: Tell us about a female role model or mentor that helped you grow in your career. How did they inspire you?
A: My biggest female inspiration is my mom with no doubt. She made it through without any support. She always motivated me and made me believe in myself. She taught me that anything is possible and I am capable of everything. She is my biggest example.
Q: What advice would you give to other women considering a career in Data Centres?
A: My advice for all women is “Go for it”, have a strong mindset and believe in yourself. You can do it! Even though this industry faces some challenges, it all pays off when you see the results and feel part of it!
